Would you like a role with broad clinical exposure within both obstetrics and gynecology while gaining experience in an English-speaking healthcare system?
On behalf of university hospitals and established specialist environments in Ireland, we are recruiting OBGYN consultant for 12 or 24-month positions, with the possibility of extension.
This opportunity is well suited for specialists who would like to work broadly across both obstetrics and gynecology while gaining experience from modern hospital environments with high clinical activity and close multidisciplinary collaboration.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong experience in general obstetrics and gynecology as well as broad surgical competence within gynecological procedures. For several of the positions, a minimum of three years of experience at consultant level is preferred.
Please note that you must hold medical authorisation and specialist certification from an EU/EEA country to be eligible for these roles.
About the position
As an OBGYN consultant, you will work with the assessment, treatment and follow-up of patients within both obstetrics and gynecology. The role combines outpatient care, surgical activity, inpatient management and assessment of acute presentations.
The positions involve close collaboration with midwives, anesthesiology staff, nurses and other medical specialties. Several of the hospitals are university-affiliated and have active specialist environments within research, teaching and clinical development.
Typical responsibilities
Management and follow-up of pregnant and laboring patients
Assessment and treatment of gynecological conditions
Gynecological surgery and operative procedures
Outpatient clinics and day surgery
Evaluation and management of acute obstetric and gynecological presentations
Participation in multidisciplinary collaboration and coordination of patient pathways
Supervision and mentoring of resident doctors and other healthcare professionals
Contributing to quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical development
Participation in on-call duties where applicable

Surgical expertise and clinical areas
We are looking for candidates with broad gynecological surgical expertise, including:
Total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH)
Vaginal hysterectomy
Pelvic floor and prolapse surgery
Diagnostic and operative laparoscopy
Operative hysteroscopy
Outpatient gynecological procedures and ambulatory gynecology services

Experience in the following areas is also highly desirable:
Transvaginal ultrasound for endometrial assessment
Diagnostic hysteroscopy
Operative hysteroscopy using MyoSure and TCRF resectoscope
Colposcopy, preferably with BSCCP accreditation

We are looking for someone who
Is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology
Holds EU/EEA medical authorization and specialist certification
Has broad experience within general obstetrics and gynecology
Has strong surgical experience in gynecological procedures
Has experience providing ambulatory gynecology services
Has excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
Thrives in an international and multidisciplinary working environment
Maintains high professional standards with strong focus on quality and patient safety

We offer
Contract for 12 or 24 months, with the possibility of extension

Salary
Base salary depending on experience, typically around €233,000–€280,000 gross per year.
