Om jobbet

Do you share our passion for innovation, research and development? We are now looking for a skilled and experienced Specialist in Sheet Metal Forming to join our team of experts in Knowledge Service Center. SSAB Europe is a technologically advanced, sustainability focused steel producer with a strong leadership position in the Nordic region and a recognized global role in high strength steel—especially for the automotive sector. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and wants to make a real impact in the development of new sustainable innovations in advanced steels. Placement in Luleå, Borlänge or alternative location in Sweden.
Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is essential for the sustainability of this planet. Steel has been one of the most important materials for developing our society and it will continue to be so. In the roofs over our heads, in the bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow.
At SSAB we are proud of our history and leadership in high-strength steel. But we are also aware that the production of steel is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. That is why we have developed the world’s first fossil free steel production and has committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB you will be instrumental in realizing this goal and push for the green transformation of the whole steel industry.
About the position
This role is designed for an engineering professional with deep technical expertise, strong analytical capability, and a genuine interest in sheet metal forming technologies. As a specialist you will provide expert guidance on forming processes, material behavior, simulation methodology and application development. Your key responsibilities will include modeling and simulations, material data analysis, development of test methods, solving technical challenges, and sharing knowledge. You will be engaging directly with customers to understand their challenges, support design, process optimization, and implementation of advanced steel grades. In your daily work you will collaborate internally with material developers, but also business development functions. This includes a wide range of tasks like test planning and analysis, customer support, forming simulations and development of methods and models. You will also represent us in technical forums, research networks and R&D activities.
You will be part of a highly skilled team of steel experts where deep technical competence is combined with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Main Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with customers to design efficient and sustainable solutions for formed parts using advanced steels
Apply state-of-the-art software tools to model and simulate forming processes, enabling accurate prediction and resolution of potential challenges
Develop testing methods and tools to characterize materials; validate, analyze, and manage material data effectively
Provide guidance and support to customers and internal teams on forming processes, troubleshooting, and technical recommendations.
Create and deliver tailored training materials, workshops, and seminars to meet customer needs and enhance technical knowledge.
Lead and support R&D projects within SSAB and with external partners.

About you
Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Engineering Physics or a related field
5 years or more of experience from manufacturing industry, preferably including sheet metal processing and tooling
Competence in CAD/CAE, preferably in complex surface modelling and analysis
Experience from sheet metal forming simulations using PamStamp, LS-Dyna or AutoForm
Knowledge on statistics, optimization and robustness analysis in LS-Opt and/or AutoForm Sigma
Basic programming or scripting skills (Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation
Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
Knowledge of Swedish and a strong ambition to become fluent

To enjoy and be successful in this position you also need to:
