The Visiting Professor role
As a Visiting Professor at Chalmers, you will be associated with one of our departments and research divisions, where you will:
Conduct and collaborate on research that strengthens and develops the subject area at the department and division, including the preparation of external collaborations and research projects.
Contribute to education by teaching at first, second and third cycle level as appropriate, and by helping to integrate cutting‑edge research into courses and programmes.
Engage in utilisation and academic citizenship, for example by linking research and education, supporting junior colleagues, and taking part in the department's strategic development.
The appointment is intended as a part-time engagement, normally corresponding to 20% of a full-time position. The percentage of activity and detailed duties will be agreed jointly between you, the host department and Chalmers, including duration and length of the position.
Qualifications
According to Chalmers' Appointment Regulation for teaching and research staff, a Visiting Professor must:
Currently hold a professorship at a reputable university or research institute.
Have a strong track record of high‑quality research and recognised standing in the relevant field.
Be able to contribute to both research and education at Chalmers, including supervision and mentoring of students and early‑career researchers.
Be prepared to take an active role in collaboration with external partners and in the academic life of the hosting department.

This is an open call aimed at established professors from around the world who wish to spend a period of time in Gothenburg and contribute to Chalmers' vision of becoming a world‑class technical university, while benefitting from our vibrant, collaborative and sustainability‑oriented environment. We especially welcome interest from candidates whose expertise can reinforce or complement our existing strengths and add to new levels of excellence in research, education and utilisation.
