Welcome to HARALD PIHL – where metals meet people, and curiosity meets craftsmanship.
We’re a family-owned company with over 110 years of history, but our mindset is anything but old-fashioned.
Here, professionalism goes hand in hand with warmth, teamwork and a healthy dose of positive energy.
We believe in being curious, solution-oriented and honest in everything we do – and we’re proud of the culture we build together, across borders, roles and locations.
If you enjoy taking responsibility, making things better than they were yesterday, and being part of a company that truly cares about both results and people, you might feel right at home with us.
About the role
We are now looking for a Production Engineer to strengthen our production capabilities within Waterjet Cutting, Laser and CNC.
This role can be based either at our headquarters in Täby, Sweden, or at our manufacturing site in Birmingham, UK. We therefore welcome applications from both locations.
As a Production Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient, cost-effective and high-quality production processes.
You will work closely with colleagues across Production, Sales, Operations and Quality, and contribute to both daily operations and longer-term improvements.
The role has a broad technical scope and offers the opportunity to influence how we work across machines, processes and sites – locally and globally.
Your mission is to ensure a technically sound, well-prepared and customer-oriented production process, while contributing to improved efficiency, cost awareness and standardisation across our production units.
What you’ll do
Your responsibilities will include, among others:
Preparing and reviewing production data for Waterjet, Laser and CNC
Creating and evaluating cost calculations and technical input for quotations
Reading, interpreting and quality-checking drawings, tolerances and material requirements
Working with CAD and production preparation systems
Maintaining and updating production-related data in ERP systems
Contributing to an overall cost and capacity overview of our machine park
Supporting Sales with technical input and production feasibility
Participating in improvement initiatives related to processes, capacity, quality and efficiency
Contributing to a more standardised and scalable way of working across sites
Over time, the role may develop further as our production footprint and technical needs evolve.
Who we’re looking for
Required experience & knowledge:
Post-secondary technical education or equivalent practical experience
Good understanding of production processes and technical preparation
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and CAD models
Experience working in ERP systems
Strong skills in Microsoft Office
Fluent English, written and spoken (C1–C2)
Fluent Swedish, written and spoken (C1-C2)
Nice to have:
Experience working with Waterjet, Laser or CNC production
CAD education or hands-on CAD experience
Experience with Monitor ERP, IGEMS, Bystronic or similar systems
Cost calculation or technical quotation experience
Personal competencies
We believe how you work is just as important as what you know. For this role, we value that you are:
Structured – you work methodically and appreciate clear processes
Solution-oriented – you focus on finding practical solutions, even under pressure
Stable – you stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
Curious – you want to learn, improve and understand the bigger picture
What it’s like to work with us
You’ll be part of a close-knit, hands-on team with a high level of trust and personal responsibility.
We work in a pragmatic, collaborative way, where knowledge is shared and ideas are welcomed.
If you enjoy being part of that journey, we’d be happy to hear from you.
