Job description:Contribute to innovation in high-voltage cable technology Are you ready to take what you have learned in your studies and apply it in real projects? At NKT, we are looking for a curious and structured Electrical R&D Engineer to join our skilled team in Karlskrona. You will support the development of HVDC cable systems that enable the green energy transition, and you will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where you can learn from experienced colleagues and turn your ideas into practical improvements. Are you keen to grow as an engineer while helping solve complex technical challenges? Innovate and analyze HVDC cable systems As an Electrical R&D Engineer, you will play a central role in developing and verifying electrothermal designs for HVDC cable systems. You will work closely with experts across disciplines to conduct experiments, analyze data, and support both R&D and commercial projects. Your work will directly contribute to NKT’s reputation in high-voltage cable manufacturing. What you will work with
Learning our HVDC cable technology and design principles through R&D assignments
Supporting electrothermal calculations and simulations for HVDC cable systems, and summarising results for projects
Measurement data analysis and investigating new measurement techniques for the cable systems. Contributing to failure investigations and material characterization together with other colleagues from different departments.
Participating in standardisation committees such as Cigré and IEC together with experienced colleagues
Supporting internal and commercial project deliveries and helping maintain testing databases and technical documentation
You will join a highly skilled team based in Karlskrona, Sweden, and work closely with test labs and simulation specialists. You will receive support and guidance as you grow into the role, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility over time. Occasional travel may be required.
Profile description:Curious engineer who owns their tasks and collaborates to deliver We are looking for a curious engineer who enjoys digging into complex technical questions and turning findings into clear, practical output. You take responsibility for your tasks and follow through on agreed deliveries, while working closely with colleagues across R&D, testing and simulation. You communicate your results in a structured way and contribute to a supportive team environment. You also have:
A Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or High Voltage Engineering
Experience in HV cable system design, and electrical modelling is preferred
Proficiency in engineering tools such as Matlab, Comsol, and PSCAD
Fluency in English; Swedish language skills is beneficial
