We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering the Stegra project in Boden, a flagship large-scale industrial development focused on sustainable steel production.
This is a key commercial role responsible for managing cost, contracts, and financial performance across major work packages on a complex, fast-paced construction project.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Management
Lead all commercial activities across assigned packages of works
Manage project budgets, cost reporting, and forecasting
Ensure strict cost control and margin protection throughout the lifecycle
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
Contract Administration
Administer contracts under FIDIC / NEC or equivalent international forms
Review, negotiate, and manage subcontract agreements
Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and terms
Support the preparation of claims and counterclaims
Procurement & Subcontract Management
Lead the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers
Prepare and issue tender documentation
Evaluate bids and make commercial recommendations
Manage subcontractor performance, payments, and variations
Valuations & Payments
Prepare interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
Assess and certify subcontractor payments
Manage cash flow and ensure timely billing
Change & Claims Management
Identify, assess, and manage variations/change orders
Prepare and negotiate claims for extensions of time and additional costs
Maintain detailed records to support commercial positions
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
Provide weekly/monthly commercial reports to senior leadership
Work closely with project managers, planners, and site teams
Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors on commercial matters
Requirements
Experience
Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management
Proven experience working for a main contractor on large-scale projects
Strong background in industrial, infrastructure, or major construction projects
Experience on international / European projects preferred
Technical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of:
Contract law and administration (FIDIC preferred)
Cost management and reporting systems
Procurement and subcontract management
Variations and claims processes
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
Membership of RICS or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
Skills
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
High level of attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
Fluent in English (Swedish or other European languages advantageous)
Project & Environment
Major green industrial megaproject (multi-billion € value)
